In Memoriam

In January 2012, we lost a dear friend and fellow musician, Geoff Kennedy. Geoff was a bright light to the band and was one of its original members; he was also the very first soloist to perform with us, playing a very difficult euphonium solo with band accompaniment.

Geoff grew up in the East End of London, and having Salvation Army minister parents, began playing euphonium in the Salvation Army Band at an early age. His love and enthusiastic support of music never ceased and when he and his wife Judy moved to Rancho Murieta in 2001, Geoff quickly found a band to join, the Amador County Community Band which had just formed. He loved the band, his new comrades, and just making music.

We miss him as a wonderful friend and a great musician; we dedicate this concert to Geoff to honor him, his friendship, and his contributions.

We wish to acknowledge and thank those that made memorial contributions in Geoff’s name to help support the band: David Kennedy, John Stubbings, Tom Shaver, Sally Murphy, Sara Benolken and Daniel Staite, Mike Hammond, Jon and Yolanda McCurdy, Deborah and Robert Nevins, John and Christine Cesca, the Monday Bridge Club, Ann Marie Walsh Woods and Gerard Woods, Myra Lawrence, Don and Beth Scotts, the Berglund’s.

Thank you for helping continue Geoff’s love of music…
